While some may argue that TV advertising is heading into the sunset, the TVB report finds that TV advertising is still the top medium for consumers to respond to and be influenced by advertising. There are no two opinions that videos are the future of digital marketing. No matter whether you are running a small organization or a large enterprise, TV & video marketing are compelling strategies that will help you in making your business succeed.
A study from MediaScience found that the “TV environment generated more visual attention as participants watched 71% of the ad, compared to just 30% of digital mobile ads — likely a result of the full-screen viewing experience versus the distractions inherent with the digital experience.”
The biggest names in online marketplaces, including Amazon and eBay, report that adding a video ad to a product description increases the chances of a shopper buying that item by up to 35%. It improves the brand awareness that helps to increase the sale.
The number of people watching videos on mobile devices continues its upward climb. One interesting statistic for companies distributing video is that 88% of short pieces, around 30 seconds, are watched through to the end on mobile.
TVB’s findings align with what MediaScience found when comparing commercials airing via broadcast and streaming on a TV set to the same ads airing on mobile devices. Ads shown on the bigger TV screen saw a 2.2 times higher unaided recall and 1.3 times higher purchase intent. The bottom line? The bigger the screen, the more significant impact it will have.
Americans, on average, spend 5 ½ hours watching TV daily. Video is more engaging to the senses, so it can convey more information by showing and telling at the same time. About one-third of shoppers will purchase a product after viewing a video ad.
The emotional impact of video ads is significant. You make a more solid personal relationship when you are storytelling through sight and sound, connecting a viewer’s emotions to your product or service. It is a teaser designed to draw in potential customers.
